The only bad question is the one not asked. I have been told in the past, " you can only get these from us they are unique", took the bearing in question into the warehouse and the chap said yeah got loads of these what do you want sealed or un-sealed.

These bearings are not unique to the Mini gearbox. I got mine from my local bearing and transmission suppliers. They were able to offer me the same bearing but with a brass cage instead of the nylon type, which we all know fails after a period of time.

unforchantly some bearing suppliers will stock on shelf and some wont.

bury bearing suppliers who stock nsk, skf timkin plus the ones in the blue boxes but cant remember there name. took one look at the bearing numbers i gave them and said. thre all were automotive and special order only and still worked out more expensive then say from minispares.

how ever no doubt some will stock them some were.

always looking for them bigger bunches of bannanas

The larger turbo first motion shaft support bearing is 'unique'

if no one has any stock, and a batch is due in, that to me would say that it is a made to order bearing, rather than an off the shelf item that you could get at any bearing supplier, and as such, makes it 'unique'

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

They might be automotive bearings but they are not 'unique' . SKF and RHP both list them in their catalogues.

I agree with NGL. I took one of the turbe nose bearings into my local bearing supplier, they actually had a catalogue with automotive applications in and were able to identify the bearing, and order one for me the next day.

If there is a slight difference in materials used as stated in an earlier post they will have different part numbers but have same dimensions get this all the time on planes, usually turns out the alternative is better.
