I'm glad that I've just fully seem welded the new sills on my youngest lads car.

Those spot welds have just popped and the main structural member of the floor has gone.

that clubman crashed just down the road from my house.

i remember asking around about it but cant remember exactly what failed.

Rob isnt the kind of guy to compromise on his brakes though

This is a quote from the owner (it was the orig pin but was in good condition

i dont know how why it failed as it was nowhere to be seen found during the police inspection but during that inspection a bolt was put in and the brakes tested and they still worked)

it just goes to show, when you work on your own car either by choice/love of or budget reasons always check & double check then a month or so later check things again for tightness, if unsre use some of that semi setting threadlock & sparay laquer on all your nuts n bolts after to prevent corrosion & sometimes slippage

i feel for the guy thats bolloxed a car as nice as that up be it by accident or own doing,

i smashed my old 1.8 metro up pretty bad & was lucky to walk away with nobody else involved, burst all the welds on the bootfloor, caked the frontend in & snapped both wishbones, & smashed the front alloys

i was naughty & drove it home all fcked up! engine & box were still mint! the rest though...........itwas a sad day for me, i love that car

i'm going to add some extra bracing to mine i reckon

I've had a bolt in rollcage sit in my greenhouse for over a year, but haven't got round to fitting it yet.

I was always concerned about a cage offering more metal to impale or crack ribs on in the majority of impacts rather than offer protection.

Obviously it will offer great protection in a roll, but would a this type of cage offer better protection in the majority of impacts?

get some doorbars in te mix & some more tubing to brace the floor, stop it folding/colapsing

a 6-point cage is better than without in a smack just for the fact its bracing the occupent area

fit cage padding & wear a puffa jacket lol oh & a thick wooly hat *surprised*P

The way I look at it. I would rather break my arm on a rollcage door bar then have half the body side come in on me. Thats why I fitted the rollcage really.

Ive always hated the thought of side impacts more than anything, can just imagine a heft enough wack and no door bars you'd be thinner than a pop tart.

... or you would end up with a nice length of steel tube embedded in your side.

I'm not disputing the fact that they could prevent excess injury in some cases.

What I'm asking is, do you think that they could they cause more injury in other cases.

It would be interesting to hear.

It will probably give me enough motivation to get the cage out of the greenhouse and into the mini promptly. lol

get in in boss it takes what 30-40mins *surprised*)

oh if you have an accident anyone here! & you know your hitting another car or wall etc tuck you feet up away from the pedals & stay relaxed! dont get all tence! & tuck ya arms nxt to your chest! & brace ya head on the headrest as hard as you can to prevent the whipping action

advice given to me by a paramedic that deals with the big accidents on the motorways etc where they have to cut you out, make sure your harness's are tight or your normal belt fitted correctly

i done this when i had my accident & i did'nt get even a bruise & the car was fooooobbaaaarrrddd in a bog way!

i have had a big impact in me rally x metty, the cage saved me no doubt, i did clatter my knee off the door bars, so i would suggest lagging the whole lot around you so the entire apperture around the door !

with minis being so light the car will get catapulted off the ground before a spar fails and impails ya (IMHO) mind if you are jammed up against the wall and get struck ure dead anyway so a cage is no worse, more likely to stop the intrusion in all fairness, mind folks dont get false sense of security all the cage does is stop ure body being disfigured, inertia can kill you just as easy ure organs got no roll cages on em so gan canny as they say
