American locks are extremely good. But get one that reduces access to the shackel part of the lock.

ABUS are my prefered choice but people have tried cutting through the metal door to remove the lock as the y could not defeat the lock or bolt!

Stay well clear of Squire! from my experience the lock mechanism is all brass and those that look like steel, thats just a pressed cap covering the brass lock underneath I can defeat a brass lock in 5 seconds infact I have to do my neighbours lock again as she has lost her keys. She always fits the same lock as she knows I can easily defeat the lock.
