nice to see the styling is getting back towards how it used to be in the late 90's thats when f1 was at its peak for me personally,

how small is that rear wing? lol i suppose most of the 'down force' comes from the under body and diffuser

Yes i moved to the darkside *happy*

It's the new regs that have dictated the size of the wings (as the regs have done for years). The idea is to reduce the overall downforce and cause less turbulance for following cars. The front wing is also adjustable on the move to allow folowing cars to run closer to each other. All this (in theory) will aid overtaking

So who thought that snow ploughs would look good on f1 cars!! I thought the mid 80s turbo cars had some wings on them!! IMHO F1 next year is gonna be a bit of a boring transition. But if Red Bull can do a good car this year then Vettel will be the man to beat.

With adjusting the power plan, the brake bias, and now the front wing trim should make it more driver involved, no?

With the front wing growing and the rear wing shrinking I would imagine there must be huge changes in suspension geometry etc to prevent it oversteering like fook..

Are the tyres much different in width this year to make up the difference? I would imagine wider rears would help restore the balance..

This again was a big issue for F1 teams designing their cars. They wanted narrower front tyres to regain the balance (as you say Tel). But that hasn't happened.

With the increased mechanical grip & less aero, the person who preserves his tyres the best will be the victor. People who raced in IndyCar or Champcar could have an advantage. The french Sebastian 'whats his name' was gifted at this in the states, alas if he retains his seat. Glock may do well also.
Hamilton was well known for tearing his tyres out last year.
There was also talk of banning tyre warmers & no fuel pit stops, just tyres. Not sure if or when they are doing this.

So another rule change that plays into the hands of the big teams that can afford to redesign there suspension.

I wish they'd leave the rules alone, might give the smaller teams a chance to develop there cars as opposed to having to keep redesigning them to me the regs.

I completely disagree. The aero stuff had to stop. A good shake up is needed. Cheaper engines for the independants, 2010 will see even better benefits from cost cutting

Now the Mclaren camp has their car on display. I thought the aero/bargeboard in front of the side pods was banned?

none of it is banned really, its all to with where the rules say you can mount them.

All the teams have twisted the new rules like hell!

Having said that, i dont think any of the teams have launched a car that looks remotely like it will in melbourne

yeah as all during season testing is banned, all of it will be done now. And i should imagine they are checking the calibration of the CFD and simulation software as that is gonna be the key this year especially as wind tunnel time is so limited.

They let him go was over 2 years ago, and its not made a difference. A car is not designed by one man!

Adrian newey certainly knows his stuff, he is the modern day Gordon murray and he was a great designer.

I see they are changing the safety car rules. Cars may enter the pit lane while safety car is out, but at a reduced speed dictated by the ECU.

Have you noticed how high the bodywork is around the front wheels...the drivers must have their feet upalmost level with the hands...

some other cars seem to have the same space
