We had a burglar brake into the front room of my house which was quite a big mistake as that is the room Skips sleeps in I have attached a pic of skips to say he got a fright would be to say the least when the gards arived I called the old boy off and the guy was promptly arrested It was a happy ending to the story but like you mark I did not feel at home for nearly a year after crap feeling realy.

as Carl said, put the house alarm on at night, fit deadlocks top and bottom on the back door ant fit a rim lock on the front door. we went a bit more with 20mm conduit bars bolted to the bottom panel of the back door after the neighbors, where the burglars tried to kick thiers in while they were home!

Maybe not aplicable to this situation, but i recon the best burglar deterant is a 32" widescreen CRT TV, there is no way they are carying that out the window and running off with it!

We all feel for the victim in these cases and sympathy,though nice to hear,does little to help.
A few of the macho comments on here re baseball bats etc need to be read with an eye to the law.You will end up, as the victim of a robbery, in court and possibly even in jail if you use force to recover stolen property.You may use "reasonable force" whatever the court decides that is, to protect your property but no force is permitted to recover any (OJ case ring any bells ?)
The only circumstance in which the baseball bat etc is(probably) OK is if you are in"fear of your life".This is British law and seems to protect the complete shits who do these things.In America most burglars end up shot and the police often congratulate the house owner - that is the land of the free.Rant over -sorry,but my blood boils when I hear of these cases,which are likely to get even more common now that money is even harder to come by for those little essentials like the next fix.
