oh aye and if you didnt makr the leads it could be worth moving them all round one place on the dizzy, crank then move again etc. if the engines makeing no effort to fire and there is fuel and a spark there most likely 180 degrees out (at teh dizzy)

cheers evo & everyone its fricken baffling me!!!!

is there definately 100% a spark? i meen lead out, plug in it crank and see a spark? yep nice & orange on each lead!
leads i have just replaced them back as they were when i bought the car, & it was running really well, it is a crank angle sensor in the dizzy not cam sensor

are injectors clicking! they were yesterday but i'll do the screwdriver check 2moro

coild is giving a good bright spark to, it can be felt through insulated pliers

the rambling nature is fine, i'm just cacking it now with thoughts that the loom is in pieces under the covering :/ trust me to think the worst,
i'll test the crank position sensor feed 2moro, i have a feeling its this or maybe the pump is iffy, i dont know how the leccy pumps are, i presume its a roller vane like the metty turbo, i'm loosing sleep lol

yep its the ca18et the non-twincam

-- if its in the dissy as per all nissans of teh era its a CAM sensor. there is no crank angle sensor, if your going to be pedantic.*tongue*

mind and pull the plugs and see how wet with fuel they are.
anothe reasy but dangerous test is to open the fuel cap to let pressure out, then disconect teh fuel return line and energise teh fuel pump. if fuel pishes out the return line(well the regulator output that connects to the return line then the pump is working and at the correct pressure for the regulator (these seldom / never fail) so you can rule that out easily.

cheers boss,

i'm sure its crank angle *tongue* lol *happy* thats what it says in the manual but i could be wrong as in all honesty i am knackered, 'm not sure if the dizzy is driven off the cam or "something" lol in the block, ooooh i'll be checkin evo lol all in good fun!

i'll try that with the fuel to check it 2moro!

oh as i understand it it is/or should be permanant 12v to the injectors & a pulsing earth if that makes sence,

this is my 1st mess around with efi, i'm undecided as to if i like it yet lol *happy*

i bet its as simple as the feckin leads are wrong if it is i'll blow my spuds lol

i'll have a magners in the car at the mini showdown evo if ya down here in 2009 realy appreciated! this info

my plan if i get it running is the fit megasquirt, air temp sensor & lambda sensor & get it running on that so i can play with it a little, its only got 135bhp & it feel quick when running as it is! on standard boost at the moment but traction is like all silvias when you use the heavy foot, NONE! lol 200h is'nt hard to fing on standard bits & that'll do me as its my daily anyway, keep ya'll posted on how i get on 2moro

right chaps! big thanks to EVO & all others that have gave advice & help!!! it was the leads, some of the pipes from the turbo to air meter to air filter were loose,

i forgot to check the fuel!!!!! TWAT!

& its running woo hoo! but.........

it is incredibly difficult to start from cold & is fine when warm!

when i say difficult i mean 5mins of cranking, turning the ignition key on & offf to arm the fuel pump, to hear it prime & pressurise!

bit its hars to start?

the new parts are:
plugs
leads
dizzy-caap & rotor arm
fuel filter
air filter
actuator pipe on the turbo, the lil one from the turbo to actuator

i've cleaned the airflow meter which is the hot wire/hot filiment type
took the sensor connections on & off a few times to freshen the conntacts, which i'll add that contact grease too 2moro!

what cause's an injected car like mine to be hard to start when cold &fine when warm/hot????????

give it a good drive. might have a slight airlock in the fuel system from doing the filter.

coolant temp sensor, air flow meter, and as above, airated fuel :) also the usual wiring issues! glad u got her running. but also never assume jsut coz a parts new its ok :) especially when it comes to non-genuine things like HT leads, caps and rotor arms.

could be the coil too, or condensation on the ignition system somewhere.

i defo agree about the leads! my new ones are well..............utter SHIT!!!

the plugs are failry deep set but use a simular fitting to the mini, trouble is the metal contact on the lead! you cant feel it snap onto the plug like you can on most other cars!

i ran the car very shortly, up the road n bk, pulled in & 3 of the leads were not far from off! its like the rubber insulator that go's over the plug is too long! the dizzy cap ends are great but plug ends i'm actully disgusted! its just they dont suit the car too well, i think what i'll have to do to make sure they're fitted on well is pull the rubber insulator bit bk, clip the lead on the use some silicone spray too help the rubber bit slide bk down & over the plug!

new dizzy cap has holes in?????? yep you read that right! thats being changed for the right one! DICKS in motor factors that give you parts for a sunny & not a silvia????

evo coil is giving me a great big phat bright blue spark, the coil i have is the black box type not the one like on my mini *happy*

i thik the timing needs adjusting as it has a mild misfire @ around 2000rpm & when starting from cold it runs rough as though its not firing on all cylinders but as the revs rise & the engine warms it smooths out

i need to put fuel in her 2moro 97ron minimum :/ pricey still!

what differance would it make too run it without the temp sensor? i ask as it did'nt work & the car started fine, now i've fixed the temp sensor its difficult to start cold, would there be issues?

at least now its sort-off running i can run the ecu self diagnos thing on it *tongue* if i cant fix it well enough i may take it too a rolling road to diagnose but thats my last...............resort!

air holes in he dizzy cap is normal however there shoudl be wee 90 degree ruber elbows on these holes tha tpoint down .. it stops condensation in the cap.

running wihtout the temp sender ought to make it richer .. bu cant say for sure, not sure how they failsafe. what you gap the plugs too?

i've gapped my plugs to 0.9mm which is apprently whats recommended!

the gap the plugs came with was 1mm exactly!

yep the cap hole has got a lil rubber 90degree thingeee m bob on it! lol *tongue*

i gotta get her going to tow the mini too avon nxt year *happy*

there is a s12 owners group rolling raod session in february so if i can get her running as well as posible then i can get her as good as possible on the rolling road, discounted its gonna be £30 in a place in solihul near birmingham *happy*

my though was that if temp sensor did'nt work the mixture should be a lil richer!

it may have an ecu fueling fault if it works ok with the temp disconnected?

afm should be easy to get second hand then as most people upgrade to the z32, but to be fair, the old nissan AFM's dont really fail unless buggered around with.. stil if you can pick up a known good one of teh sxoc for a tenner its got to be worth it. i'd try testing the temp sensor with an ohm meter when cold and up to temp (or even beter, in water with ice, at room temp and in boiling water) and see how teh curve looks, and hopefully if someone can compare it to a good one for you. tehres soem usefull resources on this data on teh megasquirt forums somewhere.
