It looks like it's between 2 inlet valves (which would be strange anyway) but I thought the 8 port heads went I,E,I,E,I,E,I,E

Or am I going mad ???

They couldn't follow that format with a siamese centre exhaust port could they?

So with the exhausts of 2 and 3 together they must have inlets together too. By my logic they should follow the normal 5 port pattern of E.I,I,E,E,I,I,E

He's not having a good day. 2 dead heads and a disiplinary for doing private work in work time. *frown*

Below is his head

The seven port still has the siamesed exhaust but boldly said this turned out to be an 8 port

His latest photo does appear to confirm I,E,I,E etc... and that is one hell of a crack....

that is a missive crack in the 8 port head, never seen an ally head crack like that before.

also the block looks like it may be an S block,
chec the rear of oit to see if there are 2 retangular holes.

Apologies, I missed the fact that it was an 8 Port. All makes sense now though since the pic was a small bore head.

No problem - you have to read this thread very carefully to see what is actually happening :)

Erroneous pictures of standard heads do not help !!!

If it is the 8 port I think it "probably" is, the cam is unique as well (and perhaps the pushrods ???)

whats going on is boldy just brought an 8-port headed engine for 45 mulaa. but it was cracked.

we then wanted pics.

so pics were put up of said crack....although that wasnt said crack that was a crack in another completely different to this conversation 5 porter.....

and then Rod and spanner started their own little conversation about Internet Explorer.

meanwhile boldy posted up the actual pic of the orignal said crack in said 8 port that was bought for said mulaa.

then i think just about everyone started to hate boldy for being such a jammy bastard?

RIGHT THEN!!

I apologise to everybody for confusing you.

I have more information and correct information.

To all concerned the head in the firt set of photo's i posted was of a 5 porter. It was a mistake on both mine and my friends behalf and i am sorry.
The second photo is the correct head crack.

The main block has 2 rectangular holes in the back as requested.

The cam is not a normal cam as also stated earlier up in the thread along with the push rods being longer than standard.

The pushrods are quite worn so new ones will need to be sourced.

Jason is contemplating getting the head welded at work but if not i might try and nab it for myself.

We got the engine from a very small scrapyard between weston and bath, found completely by chance whilst looking for a farm with mini doors for sale.

I am sorry i confused everybody.

On the down side. ive got to replace the head that was dropped this morning and Jason is on a first warning at work for doing personal jobs in company time, but thats his own fault.

Something that rare would surely justify the cost of Cast iron welding. The only down side is that EVERYthing will need re machining, which isnt that much if you think about it on a head.

I'd get down the scrapper and look for the les leston wheel, works rally tank, trip meter, etc. You don't just have an 8 port head on a car without having other good bits.

What an amazing find! Lucky you!

I'd put it on ebay and do a K conversion with the funds....

Any manifolds/injection on it?

Bugger off, I'm getting there.
