I can't believe how easy people think it is to get over 130horse out of one of the engines - its not easy!!!! and an SU is not the instrument of choice to get there!

-agree the cars are well prepped though

If Carling made Mini engines
it would probably be like this one!

I think the bill richards miglia and the 119bhp at the wheels 1380 have probably been dynoed at the same place that overeads.

This is why it should be measured in bananas and curly wurlys :)

Reply Recieved is below.

Hi Oli.The engine was set up at Peter Baldwins and he does not do print outs>When tuned we made a note of the power at every 500rpms.
5000rpms 110bhp
5500rpms 135bhp
6000rpms 145bhp
6500rpms 158bhp
7000rpms 160bhp
7500rpms 164bhp
8000rpms 164bhp
If you want to ring Pete and tell him that its Lees Mini (from bill richards racing)he will remember it.

regards Lee

well, on that basis heres the proof that my 998 NA makes eleventy million horses

2000rpm - 400BHP
3000rpm - 450BHP
4000rpm - 500BHP
5000rpm - 600BHP
6000rpm - 700BHP
7000rpm - Eleventy million BHP

What do I win for having the most powerful mini ever?

Please listen to this man, less than 6 months ago we built a race 1380 here with some very high spec and put a lot of time into it, we where very happy with 110 hp at the wheels and 128 at the flywheel If I am honest I would say there was very little elce that could have been done to this motor to get any more.

Theres plenty of cars been on Baldwins rollers and won championships. I've never met the bloke, but from his reputation of making a motor drivable is better than knowing what power your motor produces.
Same goes with any rollers...

well its fast lol... and peter baldwin and bill richrds are pretty good... evan if it is 10bhp opimistic... 109 bhp at the wheels is bloody good power for a na engine lol

so this is a genuine 1380 miglia then?

and why do people bum Bill Richards so much? does he actually build miglia'a or 7's? if so, how well do they do? i thought he only entered races against all sorts of non minis so there's no way to compaire against other tuners.

he doesnt build miglias or 7s... he is good but your right he races other non minis but there are minis in his class... such as an amazing 7 porter in britax cooper colours... he beats them all but i think that is mainly cos of his driving skill also
