thats cos dynamats for sound deadening not proofing, it stops the kev rattles when you've got big subs and roof flashing tape works just as well but a whole lot cheaper.

Perhaps neon lights might take your mind off the noise?

ok. I think I will get a set of straight cut drops. Can anybody recommend the ones sold by Minits as they are £198 minus 7.5% discount at the moment.
Or are the ones sold by minispares the best bet.
I'm not going to go for the timkin roller bearing type

i just had the standard stuff, it amounted to a rubber sheet that covered the front bulkhead and the carpet. The car was kind of noisey on the motorway by 1980s car standards but considering what it was it was quite acceptible.

Someone on here mentioned not fitting a gearbox/block gasket and just using sealant and they said that quietened them down a bit.

If you do this, just be sure there is enough clearance between the teeth!!

If when you fit the transfer housing the gears become stiff and noisey to turn by hand, there isnt enough clearance!!!

Its down to the thickness of the cheapo gaskets available, they are not as waffer thin as the genuines I remembered in days of old

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

I think this is why people report different things about the same sets of drop gears, there is variation in the gaskets.
