Not that ive found. i arnt botherd what im up against i just want to be there with the car (and not in the car park)

Any racing has these base rules and am not up to spec, the brief of the car wasnt racing so its no ones fault just life i suppose.

I think that there is still a chance. If you can prove (mathematically) that your structure is strong enough then you can get your car approved. Look at the Cateram cup cars, they don't use the specified CDS size tube.

Approach the MSA and see how it can be done.

Is it tho will or are they just going to say the blue book has rules for a reason?

Supose they can only say no. I think the best thing to do is just get it finished then take the car and see, but obviously be prepared to spectate.

Phone a scruitineer and pay the £30 or whatever it is to get it logbooked

I've noticed a few times that the blue book shouldn't be taken as gospel. Check out regulations first & as others have said, give the scruitineer a call.
Wise to stick to the book with safety though.

Edit...I've got 2007 & 2008 blue books if anyone want them for reference, just pm with addy

Ive spoken to head scrutineer at harewood a few times, and it seams he wont put his neck on the line and say yes or no.

Ive asked if it would be best for it to be inspected and all he kept telling me was read the blue book carefully.

Il have another search and see if there is another near by.

Thanks Rick

get some advice from other people running in that catagory is the best bet. There are some very mixed views between the blue book and the series regulations. I'm more towards the regulations...thats what the srutineers will look at, especially in a one make series.
I haven't a great deal of experience in motorsport, just little things I've picked up. Its hard work...trying to find little grey area's that you can exploit.......or in my case...not enough knowledge yet! :(

Most scruits know the bit's they need to know for event scrutineering, then have aworking knowledge of the Blue Book. It would be unfair to expect them to know it backwards (that's why it;s written down).

I will look later and find the info you need.

Right, done some reading.

The regs for the Sports Libra class are infact minimal. Rather than compling with specific regs, you have to comply with regs from other Formulae.

So if you can find some Special Saloon regs (don't know what's in the blue book, maybe I need to look) that say your cage is compliant, then you're ok.

The other option of suppling calculations only seems to be open to manufacturers.

For any Mini driver wanting to have a go at a pukka hillclimb circuit, theres an event at Gurston Down on the weekend of 6th + 7th June this year. Its not a proper MSA sprint but on the Saturday any Mini will be able to have a run on the course on the Sunday its open to any Mini driver with a competitions licence. The event is mentioned in one of the Mini magazines.

If this event is successfull they are hoping to hold a proper MSA event next year.

I have a contact email address for one of the organisers which I will post up.

It sounds like it will be a really good event, so I'm going to have a trip down there.

Thats a quality idea, I only live 10 mins from gurston. I wouldn't mind using mine for competition when I have got the weight down to an acceptable level. If I ever get round to getting a licence

Indeed, a certain Puma springs to mind, oh and a special with a helicopter starter motor driving the turbo.
