Thanks for the Knid words Colin I kind of expected it tho I never even looked at the gearbox when building the engine I was a box out of a mid 80's 998. All I did was replace the diff pin for a mini spares comp pin and planets. but no to wore should be sorted tommrow as long as we dont get any suprises :)

Well the results are whell they where in Saturday I have just been to busy to get the pic up,

Rover Strikes again / / /

This was a Clutch out of a 20k MPI I removed it because the customerwanted a better pre verto setup, I inspected it for wear and stuck it on the pikey 998, well that explains th juddering and gear slection problams on the UP sidee the gearbox is perfect on the down sides after only 900 miles the centre main bearing is beginning to fail :( standard 998 cranks dont like 7500rpm gear changes

That is not a 'factory' clutch. That has been in bits before!, and that is deffo not an MPi clutch plate

This problem is not uncommon

No the plate is most defently no Verto rover I fitted this a the orignal plate was buncked, the rest defently came out of an mpi all right it still had the yellow paint from where it was torqued on the line I would assume.

No, you still dont understand what I am talking about *tongue* There is a ring on the face of the boss, around the bolt head, which only happens when a socket is used to remove and tighten the bolts. The socket leaves a mark *wink*

Especially obvious in the bottom left of the third photo..... the face there shows the bolt landing and where the socket has been used (top of bolt hole).

I had this as well on a Verto, not failed but the bolts were all loose because most people assume the torque is the same as the outer (smaller) ones.

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???
