There is a single long bolt that goes through from the opposite side of the carb to hold the "bowl" on, BUT - I wouldn't advise trying it in situ..... the outlet connects to the jet by a flexible plastic tube which is sealed to the bowl with a ridiculous "O" ring olive arrangement - try to reconnect that in situ, and it WILL leak.

Best to take the carb off and strip it down and re-assemble it on the bench.

well ive taken the su off the car and as best as i can, taken it to bit!! Cleaned the bowl out, taken the pipe that goes from the bowl to the jet and blown through that and there is no resistance. So with my very limited brain im now stumped. From what i can see, it cant be electrical as every plug sparks. Fuel is getting to the bowl nice and easy. The pipe from the bowl to the jet (including the jet) has no blockage as ive blown through it very easitly. The carb needle isnt bent. The dash pot had plentyof oil in it. Im not sure what it can be now

It could very easily have been the "brown silty stuff" you cleaned out was partially blocking the feed to the plastic pipe - all the symptoms of it happening on corners match.

Also check the needle valve (in the lid) is clear - unscrew the brass bit from the lid and check there is no silt behind it.

Bingo! thankyou, crap in the float chamber. Just to repeat what was mentioned before you need to take alook in your tank. A friend had bad running issues he was stumped until we looked in his tank and found the strainer was totaly clogged with brown crap which had gotten into his carb as well.
