if you read graham bells book on Turbocharging he has actually had troubles with the mixture igniting before the spark fires. This happened with high pistons speeds thus making the local pressure along the outer edge of the pressure very high as mixture didn't not have time to travel towards the middle of the piston before it ignited.

Not common but have happened. Also a much bigger problem with high boost
