the whole of the marineindustry rely on gps, as do MOD etc, so theres no way they will let it degrade.

the us can turn it off whenever/wherever they like though which is scary, if they are conducting a military operation they can turn off the gps signals in that area/country and just use their own ultra accurate version for themselves.

the russians have a GPS system called Glonas, which is actually better and iirc the lifeboat men use this over the american system as they never shut it down.
