an eye test is valid for a year (normally) but if you have an eye test after 6 months and shows your eyes to have deteriorated which is valid?

if you mowed a pensioner down wearing your old glasses and provided your old eyetest to prove you could see ok would this be sufficient proof if the prosecution produced the new eye test?

my last mot for example was issued to me and would have been valid for one year, however I got a tug and was pg9'd for protruding wheels, the pg9 invalidated my mot meaning i had to fix the issue and get the car re moted, but while the pg9 was in effect i still had the original mot certifacate.

anyway, i'm drunk and rabling now! sorry.

This is what i was told by my tester:

When my car failed, but had some test left. He said on the MOT system the fail over-rides the current ticket. However on the police database they just use your current expirey date.

In terms of driving on the saturday, knowing it expired on the Friday....... don't do it. Your insurance is stil valid but the car can be taken away and crushed.

When you test you just test and pass or fail.
But your old Mot is a legal doc if your car is ok it will still apply if not I am a Dutch man.

well the car is obviuosly not ok as it has failed its new mot (unless the new mot has been misfailed) or are you getting at the diference between a fail and an epic dangerous fail?

who would have tje final say/most authorotie? mot man, vosa, or the police?

as you are an mot tester and know the law you will be able to point us to the applicable text to clarify this.

The current Mot will be ok as an mot but you can be prosecuted for an unfit car etc but not for not having an mot.

Can you not just weld a big patch over the dodgy bit and retest it?

Paul

I seriously doubt it!

bolt an undertray onto the rear subframe and retest it.

Tester cannot remove the undertray....

In all seriousness though, i would be wanting to sort the subby out before driving the car.

How bad actually is it? Have you seen it?

I thought if it failed it went onto the system as a fail, im obviously wrong.

I was under the impression that if it fails the test early, the MOT still runs untill the pass runs out. It works the same way that you can test it upto 30 days early iirc and the MOT will be post dated to when the original MOT runs out in 30 days, if it passes.
