Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

ADAM:
dont panic, thats the first thing, a lot of this problem was also caused many years ago by the old dreaded Duckhams 20/50 detergent oil, what oil are you using buddy?

did you change the oil/filter and water when you did the gasket change? try taking it on a decent run up the motorway. if your only doing short journeys then the mayo will appear.

that was my next thing to try "benross and bud 666" i've still got the old oil in at the moment!

usually use valvoline racing oil, but recently been topping it up with cheap stuff!! bit skint.

change the oil and see what happens, and give it a long run?

it is running much better than it was before..

could it be the oil filler cap not breathing properly?

well adam,
thats it buddy you still have residues left over from before buddy.
as long as you are not losing water ? or the oil is not contaminated heavily again or visa versa thats it!
you may need to flush the oil and change the filter a few times to eliminate this with some cheapo oil then put some good stuff in,
i use castrol GTX changed regularly say ever 1500miles with no problems with the bearings or anything but there are better oils out there and my friend after making enquiries for you dump the valvoline as this is worse than DUCKHAMS its high in detergent, compounding the problem.
the A series engine likes to breath well especially on high power units so take note:
i doubt this is not the problem buddy

youcould have mayo-esque oil due to the previous head gasket going and water sitting in the oil., clean it up and run it a bit longer, se if the problem persists or gets worse!

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

also when you took the head off water could have entered the oil if all the water wasnt out

hoping to get time this week to change the oil, will it be o.k to use "cheap" oil for about a week, only to make sure all is o.k then change it again for some decent oil?

ADAM, i only use the chepo oil say ?2 to ?3 for a gal, if you shop round, for say 5 to 10 miles running for the purpose,
that price would not break the bank. then fill with the best you can afford.with new filter.
the decisions yours buddy. do you want to take care of your motor ?

I would also run it for say 100 miles, and then re-tourque head and check clearances again.

Out of interest, what make gasket have you used?

problem solved! i hope.......

i've changed the oil and filter, and it seems to be o.k at the moment..

but now the water pump is leaking! is there no end to problems?

is it worth fitting a high capacity water pump?
they dont seem to cost much more than a standard one.

cheers.

hi adam, good news eh!
you may still get a few residues lurking in the internals of the motor say in a few weeks or so, but dont be alarmed.
you may wish to repeat the the flushing again ?

water pump, well replace with the standard turbo pump will be fine this is a HC unit .
and it may be prudent to fit a new drive belt as well to give you some insurance in that department
good luck
