commiserations matt , i use a knock lite on mine ,you might like it ?its made by turbo xs i think .
regards
robert

No mate, lol I set the start map when there was no intercooler, and set it CONSERVATIVE *hehe!*, I remember you tweeking it last year at Avon *wink* If it knocks, it neither mine nor your fault, the person in question has been told *hehe!*

Person in question has taken note! *wink*

Me and Robert did take alot of time setting the ignition timing up, and it is still very conservative in the higher boost area's. Roberts never wrong Colin, have you not learned this yet! *hehe!*

Maybe i'll get the knock sensor set up sooner rather than later.

oky doky,,, sorry for taking so long to report back to you all,,, i don`t really get much time to work on this thing amongst all the "Normall" mini customers, but still--->

it`s all apart & it`s only cracked the ring "Lands" on the pistons,,, All the rings are actually still fine (altho i obviously won`t be using them again, except maybe on a 2nd hand sh!tter roady donk of my own one day, so i`ll keep them anyways)

But i`m a bit happier now,,, no bore problems, the bearings are sweet,,, the crank is just ever soooo nice & shiney smooth,,,, it`s all good `cept Pistonies

so,,, i`ve been chasing around for some "You-Beauty" Forged race pistons, maybe JEs or Ross or Arias whatever comes along asap

I`ve allready got the double grey comp clutch diaph & super duty AP comp race c/plate

I have to sort the clutch master cyl & the hose, (feels a bit dodgey so i`ll make sure it`s all sweet while the donk is out),,, there is some stoopid weired horrible home made gearshift mount fitted that sux bad to get the gears , so i`ll be sorting that while i`m at it too

But apart from all that we`re back in business

I can`t believe the rings weren`t broken tho,,, wild

They`re JP brand (made here in Aust),,, my dad designed them years ago in conjunction with old Frank that used to work there (since died) & they`re really really strong for N/A road & full race applications & have been proven well worthy for years & years,,, It`s really not the pistons fault at all,, 35 deg ign timing with lots of boost & my dumb arse right foot made it all go yukky.... most of the turbo gurus that i`ve spoken to said the same thing *frown*

hee hee,,, kissing them is just first base isn`t it??? 2nd base would be playing with their tits,,,, so I`m pretty sure i hit 3rd base with them *smiley*

I used to call them "Indestructo pistons" cause you just couldn`t break them, no matter how hard you tried,,, I`ve never actually seen or heard of anyone breaking them, EVER...till now *smiley* ah well,,, can`t call them that anymore now can i? *smiley*

i think youd kill any piston with that combo of timing and boost matt..stick some more of the same in ,and try 15 degrees in stead . *Idea*

Medusa + injection = too much torque for the dyno ..https://youtu.be/qg5o0_tJxYM

yeah thanks guys, in hindsight i actually should have made sure & checked the timing myself before i even thought of driving it to the dyno, but Ian (my so called computer guru tuner specialist) at the lap top "Playing around" with all sorts of whatever, i totally expected that he`d set a max ign at about 20deg allready,,, so the plan was to put it on a tilt tray truck & carry it to the dyno,,, so after he left to go have dinner & meet me at the dyno later, i decided that i`d just drive it there... little did i know that he had "NOT" set a "decent" ign max,,, he didn`t think to bother till we got it on the rollers, cause it wasn`t meant to be driven hard till then,,, so it really is all my fault , i take "ALL" the blame... i`d like to blame him totally instead but it still wouldn`t make me feel any better nor would that fix the pistons *smiley*

But in saying all that,,, i`ve realised that we will definately want to "Play" a little harder later on, so more boost is on the cards soon & i do suspect that the very best pistons that i can get would be sensible at this stage *smiley*

Now that i`ve had a taste of some "Decent" Boost, i want some more *smiley*
