I think Mr Joshuas approcah is more to improve the flow rather round 4 rather than address the overall temp of the coolant

i really like the dry decking idea, but how do you supply oil to the head?

an oil hole through the gasket? lol

as the oil hole is miles away from the fire ring you could have that as the only hole, and just dry deck the water stuff.

Correct I would like to think that the flow of coolant is around the entire engine and not stagnant in one corner.

Its not the coolant flow around the block, its the coolant flow around the head. bleading off coolant from the heater take off will promote coolant flow around #4 combustion chamber.

Dry decking ensures the path of the coolant gets to all combustion chambers

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

My sister is so fit I won't show anyone her picture

The engines now dry decked & almost ready to drop back in.
What are peoples thoughts on keeping or losing the heater take off on the end of the head ?
Will this affect the water flow as the water may flow around this rather than back accross the head ?

Thoughts ?

id block it off and take it from the thermostate end, that way thers allways coolant flowing across the head so when the thermostats closed the one side of the head isnt going to heat up due to no water movement.
its a hard question really but from how i understand it the thermostate will open and close a fair amout duering a drive, the heaters simply going to act as the head to pump bypass hose and allow the water to circulate as it needs to. you dont need to have the heater fan on but you do need circulation from the head to the pump/ bottom hose.

sorry if this replys hard to follow but i was thinking it throo as i was writing
