well had that in my 1380 on full boost it turned out to be blow by paST THE PISTONS No its not that!! My biggest suspect at the moment is the last elbow going into the plenum. Although I have retightened the thing a few times I have seen suspicous markings on the inside of the elbow where it clamps the the plenum and for the last few days it has kept popping off (scary, sounds like a backfire) Originally I just cut the end off and was clamping to the stump but quite honestly its not even round there and in fact is a bit cone shaped. I reworked the plenum, welding a short piece of 2" ally pipe to it and for 30 mins today all was well, but just as I was approaching home it started again. I think the elbow is so deformed and damaged now that it just cannot seal. Proof will be if the problem has cleared again, at least for a while, when I drive it next, either way I am going to get a new elbow.. maybe some better clamps. And yes, there is just a hint of UV dye around one side of that joint...not easy to see, in fact only obvious when you realise that you can wipe it away but its there, nice call Tom! Terry. Does your boost gauge come from the manifold after the carb ? In which case, have you got a split in the gauge line at the back of the gauge in your dash which could be opening up on full boost and giving you a whiff of fuel/air in the cockpit ? Richard. Richard had it.. After spending 30 mins searching around the engine bay with the UV light with no results I went inside the car... There it was, on the "T" piece I have between the Boost guage and the Megajolt... All that other crap, the sounds off the wall, the 30 mins without a problem after I remade the inlet joints, the reduced smell with the bonnet off --- all coincidence.. website:- http://www.terryhunt.co.uk
