Could a custom speedo cable be made which will provide an output for something like avcr? If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of. |

yes, 2 or 4 magnets atached to the rotating part and a hall effect sensor. to pick them up, like i say im sure you could incorporate this into the mini speedo itself.

Don't make life hard take it off of the back wheel - all that is required is a drill, file and some washers!!!! Edited by Scruffy on 26th Aug, 2009. On 5th Sep, 2011 Vegard said:

The rear wheel will work well for true speed indication- but it will not work well for gear position indication- if the revs flare up due to wheelspin but the road speed from the undriven wheel is compared the resulting gear calculation will be wrong.

i'm going to fire off an email to apexi and see what sort of feed the avcr needs for its speed input, no idea if it's going to be a pulse, a voltage reading or whatever else. On 20th Oct, 2015 Tom Fenton said:

Im making a trigger wheel to fit on the pot joint for my speed sensor, mainly for my speedo. I'll post some pics up, but it'll be a while before I can start it. I tried this, with my magnetic type pickup for my digital clocks - the pot joint moves far too much for it to work well. It would work for a few miles, then stop, then start again. In the end I put it in the rear hub like everyone else has suggested. On 15th Jul, 2009 fastcarl said:

nick the avcr is self learning, and it will learn when you change gear, so after a while of normal driving it knows when you have wheelspin etc, i just used a rover speed sensor pickup and then ground down the thread housing to make it fit,

AVCR is a pain in the fucking hole to set up. Why not just fit triggers to the undriven wheel, read via a hall or mag sensor ? That way you have a true indication of undriven wheel speed. Or fit an aftermarket ecu that offers traction control, and will retard timing/kill spark based on traction loss etc. Just because you dont use the fuel side of the ecu, doesnt mean it wont work. This same ecu should also be able to control boost too. i figured it out....lol On 2nd Oct, 2009 Vegard said:
