Hi guys sorry for only replying now but ive had a hectic weekend.

Ok these cranks are a short stroke 1100 version only made in SA. They are all good second hand ones.

As for fitment, we use them with a normal A series block decked about 5 or 6 mm and 1275 pistons. They have normal A journal sizes so they can be stroked using S rods.

The reason they arent used that much here is because we havent been able to get 1100 pistons(taller deck height) from about '74 or so and it is often cheaper to find a good 1275 crank instead of decking the block and changing the push rods.

But for racing and performance wise they are a very good choice.

As for a time scale it kind of depends on how many people are interested but im planning to have them airfreighted so they should arrive within a week of me sending them.

For the UK guys - FYI

I'm Sure Rich Hawcroft from Mini Spares North in Harrogate still has some of these short stroke cranks in his shed.....

Last time i checked he (along with Mark Forster from MK1-performance converisons) had imported nearly 100 of these cranks.

Ok, silly question maybe, what would I have to do/use to make this crank less than 1000cc?

I.e do i need longer rods, taller pistons or what?

Right, I've just done some calculations, with a skimmed head (say 18cc chambers) and assuming a 6cc dish in a piston, you would need 7mm taking off the block to achieve around 8.8:1 CR (good for 15psi boost).

Can this be done to an A+ block? is it a good idea? are my calculations right?

How much are longer rods?

I will have the final 2. Just a couple of questions first,

What Kinda RPM can these go to safely?

How would I make less than 1000cc

on a std bore big block, to get below 1000cc you would need a much shorter stroke.

about 63.7mm, so you would need to more the journal centreline inward by about 3.21mm

i havent got jounal sizes to hand, so cannot say wether this crank could be destroked this far using s rods? anyone?

So could I not use longer rods? (custom made if nessasary)

No changing the length of the rods will have no effect on the engine cc, just the compression ratio.

To change engine cc, you need to change the bore or the stroke, nothing else will affect it.

Ok so I have got to have the crank reground by 3.21mm and then a set of rods made with that size journal?

Yes, but you wont be able to take that much off the crank IMO.

Best would be to get a linered block and put undersized liners in with some suitable pistons. Well that's what I'd do.

although in reality what I'd do is buy a 970 crank and bore the block to 73.5mm, then you have 999 iirc.

Although in actual reality I'd use a 998 block and crank, especially for a turbo.
