HAHA about 20 mins ago. lol. yeh thats the figures give or take 1 or 2 and yes he uses it and i have now and again :). are you sure it uses all the box cause on jkd website it says "5 speed involute dog box kit to fit within standard 4 speed box" the bit were the 4 speed gears sit? Sorry but Father Christmas isn't real either - here is my box on one of the many occasions I had to strip it down JKD= POS ![]() Well if its a piece of shit why do you still use it and remove it to fix it each time it brakes? Also is this a 5 or a 6 speed? Edited by ERA ANT on 13th Oct, 2009. Do it right the first time and make it mint!!!!!! |

No it is my OLD five speed - reverse is relocated and originally design with a syncro assembly but on both the boxes (they gave me a new one under warranty due to the problems I had) I had the baulk ring was machined oversize so it did work! Mainly wearing out syncros but also 2nd & 3rd gear syncro faces (and i used to double declutch as well to try to prolong the life!!!!) But bearings used in the five speed assembly made of cheese also! Edited by Scruffy on 14th Oct, 2009. On 5th Sep, 2011 Vegard said:

hi guys didnt even know i had started this topic . my mate has a 6 speed jkd box on his turbo engine that puts out 160bhp and 180 torque and its fine. i would say its the best and most reliable bit of his engine 8-). Also i believe that the jkd 5 speed dog box that fits in the same area as the 4 speed is the same design as the kad? so wont this make them more reliable? or is it the teeth that arnt up to the sudden power dellivery from a turbo engine? There is a rolling road shoot out and drag racing at pod, with mini mag next weekend. You should get your friend to bring his mini along. On 15th May, 2009 TurboDave said:

JKD will make a new one up for you if you so please. Really? The chap I know who owned one said JKD did not want to know when he was after it being repaired. He sold the broken six speed to a certain other and he got it fixed at Quaife for £1200. This six speed was one of few and originaly part of the Rover/ BMH 1996 works Nurburgring/ Monte Carlo group A Mini. 100bhp and it broke. On 26th Oct, 2004 TurboDave16v said:
Is it A-Series only? I think it should be... So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'... On 26th Oct, 2004 Tom Fenton said:

even dog boxes have their own wearing issues, varying dependent on the type of dog profile and how you use them lo |

I have an X-tran 5-speed ready to fit on my upcoming 998 turbo (aiming for 120 hp). They seem to be rare. Does anyone have any experience with this box, could it survive on the road, driven with some care? |
