Would a steel crank be better than this 970? Or is there not much difference?

Obviously I would have to work the 970 crank (wedge etc) and I could have a steel made ready done?

Also has anyone got experience with rotrex superchargers

Al though I don't have any actual experience of the Rotrex, I have lok into them and come to the following conclusion.

They are a cunning combination of a turbo and a supercharger, unfortunately they combine the worst features of both i.e. high boost threshold and power sapping to drive.

They have their place as a bolt on mod for high compression engines as they will make boost at the top end of the rev range where the dynamic compression is more favorable to boost.

Not for me

If course it's not billet, you can see the forging marks.
Previously you asked the same questions, and the answer was back then that there is not much to it.
Do you think things have changed the last fortnight?

bit rubbish really.. I was the only one in my class. So took home a trophy. :)

Clutch went on my second timed run tho... release bearing broke.

Think my best time was 36.3s

Bit rubbish to be fair but just getting used to the new diff, and with no-one to race you never go as fast :)

Well that tells me you have a well sorted car with decent power. We'd run similartimes on an off day. with new tyres and a bit moreboost, I'm happy we can get a mid 34.

Do you know whatwe're missing now, photos of the beastie.

Looks great, thatis some serious tyres you have on there. Why is it that minis slide when you want them to grip and grip when you want them to slide?

Yer always too much grip! ... next run after that I lost the rear end round the first left! .. felt like an escort!

Anyway im not sure about this turbo things now... what do you think is the absolute max I could get out of a NA 1380cc twincam? And what would I have to do?

will they allow a twin cam head in your regs?

obviously quite a few hillclimbers use them now (to awesome effect too), but what class will you end up in?

the reason i ask is that (from memory) the regs say you have to use a factory fit head?

Im planning on (eventually...) using a 12g295 on a 998 turbo to stay in the 1400cc class, iirc even using a 12g940 on a small bore block might be frowned upon?

You're right and wrong Jo. ModProd allows the use of any head. Roadgoing stipulates the use of the same type of head.

Yes correct.

I'm mod prod... allows any head but must must retain block and gearbox (well externally identifable)
