you have to take everything you read on all forums with quite a pinch of salt, as people will always champion what ever ecu they run, and generally bash all others.

I'd agree with that. I've used Emerald and DTA and had no problems. I've not used Omex but as far as I can tell its not especially different. The only oddball seems to be the Weber Alpha kit- you can't get the software to alter anything yourself apparently.

It's down to what you want and how far you are prepared to DIY.

I've chosen the system I'm working with and many others will chose others....

And, as above, people will bash the one they don't use........

Best just to look at the specifications and decide what suits you, and THEN compare comments from the users.

I chose what I chose for the total package, not just one feature ...

- the Storm ecu is not comparable with a mejajolt/vems or similar, all of our ecu boards use the latest surface mount technology (simplistically the chips and components are leading edge in design and functionality)and are made by machines in ISO9001 accrredited factories - not soldering irons.

looms - all of our looms for ign kits are designed to oe specs by oe loom designers and machine built by robots using shielded cables etc not speaker cable or whatever is to hand! Its not a connector with a load of wires hanging out of it!

Software is written and supported in house.

So value for money with all of these features as std is extrmely competitive - you takes your choice and all that...

The offer is still there Paul.............

If Carling made Mini engines
it would probably be like this one!

Cheers John, think I need to understand it before it goes on my car though. Still cant understand how itll make much difference between 5 - 8000rpm which is where I usually use it - keep thinking theres better things to spend that money on, I need convincing.

I seriously doubt it!

Paul I had issues with the point moving slightly and dropping into pinking MJ has solved all of those issues as I can control the timing much more accurately no more power total, but now constantly the same power, and better through the rev range, no stopping in the rain, or adjusting / changing the points. I know the rain and points can be better if your dizzy is in good condition and you have protected it, and to be fair I ran a glove on the dizzy without any issues, but the state of the current points and my old dizzy its a massive improvement. The big plus for anyone boosted is being able to retard the ignition as the going get tough.

I never had any experience with MJ I just read the simple install guide on the internet. Got the extra parts, sensor, EDIS and coil pack. and wired it up. I used OEM grade wire from my local rolling road and its been the best thing I have put on the car. Oh I got the MJ setup pre-built. I went MJ as it seemed the cheapest. I now also use it to control the clutch on my supercharger.
My rolling road set the map. but I bet with more experience you could have done it by listening to your engine and setting it yourself. I don't have that experience.

anyway this explains it in more detail. http://www.autosportlabs.net/Megajolt_Lite_Jr.

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

No offence intended JK but, as I said before, it's down to what people want and how far they are prepared to DIY.

I have no problem using a soldering iron for example, but others will.

As for total reliability, it tends to be all the "external" bits and the way they are put together, that determines the ultimate reliability, not the PCB whether soldered by me, anyone else, or a machine.

And that is mostly outside your control :)

ok the Storm ignition kit for the Mini A series comprises

ECU with CAN interface/software/basemap etc
Loom (same loom for MAP or TPS)
Trigger kit + sensor (see pics of K engine in show us yours section for new trigger wheel)

due to people running turbo's webers, su's etc options are needed!

so the SU HIF TPS kit is £70
the Weber DCOE TPS kit is £59
coil/leads/A series billet bracket £79
MAP sensor £55

Hope this helps - if you need any techie help please give us a call on 01953 859785

cheers

JK

Options are extra costs? what i'm trying to do is justify it...so currently if i went with your kit i'm looking at.

A series kit: £345
Map Sensor £55
Coil Pack £15
Total £415

At the moment all i can see the difference is that you lose the EDIS (which is nice) and no wiring (also nice) but not £135 nice if you get me.

obviously not used your software i can't say if its better but if i'm honest i wouldn't be mapping it anyway so its not a big concern of mine just got to go to a good place.

its a shame as i love the ease and simplicity of this product so much but i just cant warrant parting with that much when there doesn't appear to be that bigger plus's that i can see.....i want someone to prove me wrong on this :)

Paul, i think you should fit it and let the RR do the tech stuff. i'm no expert at wiring ask supermottolee and even i managed to wire a MJ up with his help.

t

Are you sure you have to use SC's MAP sensor? one can be taken from another car and used for like £5
As for the price why is it above and beyond that for other cars when it doesn't include the coil needed?
