manifold that is sexy !!!

the idea of dry sumping does a few things:
it removes almost all the oil from the sump so there is no splashing and what not so it cannot get hit by a fast spinning crank/ rods wasting power
the oil can be stored in a tank or a large radiator or a mix of both to keep temps in check
the engine can be alot lower in the car mainly because the sump doesnt need to store oil only collect it into a common point to be sucked out

there is probably alot more that dont come to mind aswell

Yes i moved to the darkside *happy*

Dry sumping on an inline engine wont get you very far if you attach a gearbox.
The standard backplate on an inline is as deep as the sump and its to this that the bell housing bolts,so your sump will clear but the bell housing will hit the catseyes !!

This is true

No need to have a bonnet bulge , just fit the engine further back .

you will have to have a front mounted rack and revised steering arms , might as well make your own double wishbone suspension ,

Why not build a space frame , do your own suspension , rear drive and drop the shell over the top , after removing the rotten floorpan

Do it !

Floor pan isn't rotten, but it's a good idea. I'm still in the revisional stage though. What I'm thinking of, once I get the motor, is to complete the flip front conversion, with carbon weezels front end I think, and What I might do is get the measurements for the motor, where it would sit in the car, and cut and weld the subframe to match, as far as the suspension, total custom jobby. I'm thinking 14x8 inch rims in back, sitting on the midget axles, and 12 or 13 inch up front, give it a slight dip in front, to compensate for the rwd(don't know if it's necessary...) and then i'm going to take the front supsension off of a different car, front hubs, brakes, everything and making them work on the standard subframe.

As I've said, it depends on how it all looks when I get the motor, and the measurments.

Midget axle ?

Do you really want to swop IRS for all that unsprung weight ?

'T' Transaxles is how you use inlines in the back. Thats what they did with the Europa. I think they used a Renault one for that. Proper mid engine.

If the floor pan isn't rotten then you are a Heathen

If you move the engine and gearbox back far enough to avoid clearance problems maybe you could couple the gearbox direct to the transaxle and end up with a mid engined RWD Mini -saves the weight of a propshaft !.

And if I don't make it mid-engined?

I suppose you will have a very short shaft (No slur intended)

lol, thanks tadge. That's fine, What I'm thinking is to keep the full axle, for drag use, I doubt I can get enough horse to snap a transaxle, but it's a good precaution, and if I do change to a different motor, then I have it set up for a rear axle.
