Dan to be honest I would cut off the old hinges as they are gonna be knacked after being welded on, and get some new ones.

If you've removed the door leaving the hinges on the door, use a punch to knock the studs out of the hinges and through into the wheel arch. You would need new hinges, but it sounds like you need them anyway On 11th Feb, 2015 robert said:

...... take the doors and hinges off together do you do this using the 4 bolts under the arch? If so then mine are nackered, someone had welded a couple of them at some point and a couple are rounded off. So not a lot of chance getting them off i am afraid. If you have another way when please spill as i am a bit worried about re fitting in this way once its all painted. If they have been bodged under the wheel arch, especially if welded, it implies the studs on the hinges were shot at the time. You can replace the studs in the hinges once they are off the car (it's tricky but can be done) but only worth it if the hinge pins are not worn. But if you leave the hinges attached to the car and try to refit the doors using the countersunk screws, (a) you will damage the paint, and (b) you have no adjustment to centralise the door - it's done with shims between the hinge and A pillar and sliding the hinges around in the A pillar holes, there is no adjustment between the hinge and the door. Honestly, you would be best getting the hinges off the car (just grind the remaining nuts off inside the inner wings) and see if they are repairable. Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ??? |

Looks like an awesome car, really like the colour. Have you modified the boot floor for the alloy fuel tank? Also where is the tank from??? |

Thanks guys, I decided to change the colour mainly due to a lack of cash for the respay, the car is never going to be a show car and is solely for having fun in so I decided on a satin paint job and did it myself with plastikot rattle cans. Really pleases with the end result, with the exception of the roof as this need another coat. The colour choice came about from what was available and a looking at pictures on forums.
