does Emerald have a correction map facility? Basicaly with the lambda hooked up to the ECU and the target map set, the ECU generates a correction map of what it thinks the injection map should be as a result of the difference between the target map and injection map

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

kk, I'll try knocking the fuel pressure back a wee bit - might need to invest in a fuel pressure gauge.

Would it be best to purchase a seperate gauge for the lambda or is the emerald one ok.

Yeah, Emerald is fully adaptive.

What about the fact that the load sites are back to front in one of the maps, as I suggested earlier?

Not 100% with you Sprocket.

the load sites on the ignition map are reversed compared to the injection map, this means that zero throttle is at the top left and traverses across the map top to bottom, while the injection map zero throttle is bottom left and traverses across the map bottom to top

looking at the ignition map, its hard to work out actual numbers, but looking at the peaks, the ignition advance in the idle and low rmp, low throttle region is HUGE.

Is this the area you are having problems with?

Right - get ya now Sprocket.

Yeah, idle seems to be my main problem area.

I've uploaded the map to my web site here's the url if anyone want to have a proper look at it.

As I said, this was supplied by Stuart Gurr and I've not touched it.

Here are screen shots of the actual figures in the maps.

Ignition

Injection

the ignition map looks all to cock

you need to smooth out the map. what I mean by that is if there is a value that appears to be higher or lower that the one before, and the one after, change it to either the one before or the one after. I would err of the side of caution and change it to the value of the one before (lower)

Idle region should be around 10 to 15 degrees up to about 1000 to 1500 rpm and around 5%

Have a look at the official Emerald ignition map for a Rover K series engine, and see how much different the shape of it is, that is what you should be looking for. Obviously the numbers will be different, but the shape will be similar.

Braw. Thanx for that Sprocket.

Shit - you ain't joking. Having compared the maps from the K series to my map, it's more fucked than a fucked thing.

FFS!! Looks like I've blown a head gasket. Losing coolant, and it appears to be in the sump.....

Gonna get the head off tomorrow morning.

When will it end.........

Right. MPI is back together and running.

Just wondering what idle RPM I should be aiming for - at the moment it's sitting about 1500 - I've tried to lower, but the miss fire start to rear it's head again.

Obviously more work on the ignition map is required.

Thought you'd like to know, I took my Mini for a MOT and it passed!!!

The chap put it through as "No Exact Match" with the emissions.

Thanx for all the help, now for some fun!!!
