Not sure about that but in any case how would you know one had gone until the second one packed up and you are then in the brown and sticky stuff anyway. |

When the points separate it stops the electricity arcing between the two. So if the condensor fails then the points don't do anything at all, as in they mayaswell be permanently closed, so then the coil will not charge up, so the engine doesn't fire.
