you have penty of torque but why does it drop off so abruptly? mild cam? small valves? restricted inlet? turbo? if you could get that torque to hold near flat from 5k to the rev limit you would pull an easy 60+hp out the bag, and bet it could be done without loosing any bottom end. still seriously impressive numbers! be worth looking into on the teardown :)

Well my curves are nowhere as smooth as Nicks (oo err missus!) but I finally got the numbers it should have made at the rolling road shoot out last year.

First run on low boost, about 10-12 psi

Second run low then high 20psi, nasty flat spot in the middle.

Not quite the power of Nick, but lots more curly wurlys.

Its coming out for a major overhaul soon, so it was nice to give it a good blast on the current spec.

turbo 16v k-series 11.9@118.9 :)

It's a T2 with a mahoosive comp wheel, hence all the surging he gets.

Can't remember the a/r's off the top of my head.

I asked him that at the show this morning.

It's a hybrid T2 with a t25 wheel and the 0.35 A/R turbine housing, so he thinks that's the problem and I would agree.

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

impressive Nic, i would like to see the cam timing adjusted a little further forward say 2 deg this would pull the bottom end up somewhat

As said above, mine is a T2 with larger compressor and 360 bearing.

The restriction is the turbine housing, anything over 5 grand and it starts to drop, always has. I've been trying to locate a 48 housing to fit my turbo, move the range up a bit and hopefully minimise the surge aspect.

Looking into something new next anyway, feel a need for a change. I'm happy with numbers its made, considering its tuned by my own hands.

T2 - espace is a good start for the 0.48 AR turbines, and, I recall, 200TDi landrovers.
Beware though, as there are two turbine wheels on the T2s, and ots need the appropriate turbine hsg (obviously).

I looked into the landrover ones, but they appear to be a different casting to the usual housing. They are more of a 90deg shape (if you get what i mean, im not sure i do)

P.s. Chuffing excellent figures there nick!

Nick, Kean.

Great results lads. That's some amazing improvements on both counts.

Looks like I need to get my arse up to Northants Motorsport again and get mine re-tested after the winter mods I've made.

Certainly flew up the motorway to Bingley well yesterday and back.

Richard.

Minivanless, but reluctantly happy living with the decision. There'll be another one day.
