Peugeot or Citreon you get alot of equipment for the money. What about Seat? Its a VW/Audi at a cheaper price. :) On 19th Jan, 2010 wil_h said:

never liked peugeots newer than the 205, never felt as well built to me! I don't think one of the 205's claims to fame was its build quality. French cars have come a long way from those rattly pieces of junk (note: 205s are good at some stuff). However if you think a Kia is better then a French car then there is no point in trying to persuade you any other way. What you get with french cars (and Fiats for that matter) is value for money, £3k will go a long way on a Citroen C3 or Fiat Punto. Even a late Nissan Micra with the Renault 1.5 dCi is a bargain. http://www.twin-turbo.co.uk

what's the reason for the low mileage being so important too?

i think i'm a bit oldschool, on the whole i would'nt touch a car with mor than 50k due to reale value, wear n tear, the car has already done its lifes work at 100k, bushes.dampers, pumps, wiring has aged, owners that thrape the arse out of thier cars

To be honest that is bollocks these days. My Audi has done 140k, but if you didn't know this, I'd challenge you to find any part of it that gives it away. Seats are in perfect condition. Gearchange is as tight as a new car. ETC ETC ETC.

I'd rather buy a car that had done 100k up and down motorways, than a 20k mile car that never got any further than the supermarket. |

I'd rather buy a car that had done 100k up and down motorways, than a 20k mile car that never got any further than the supermarket. Same here, mileage is the last thing on my mind when looking at a car, TBH i dont realy care , the car needs to feel right a High milage tdi VW Seat is always giong to be a beeter choice than the same but driven by a granny localy, perhaps you ned to look at ex lease cars often kiked out at 60 to 100k and known for good servic history regardless of cost. my brother had an golf 4 tdi station ex lease with 200k km 110 hp tdi PD engine under the hood and 6 speed box no elec windows but did have all the other trics used it twice on 1000 mile holland to scotland via calis--dover, would easely sit at 80-85 and faster mph @2400 rpm and reteurn 40-55mpg allday only thing to watch for on these is the turbos they tend to pop. and after a test drive get any fault codes off the electronics as an early warning of possible problems. duff turbo will also be registerd. when people ask me waht reliable car to get i say VW golf models faults ar diy readable parts are cheap gezillions of them made can go for good cash evan later in their lifspan, good anti corrosion and can come fully loded. yet still be comfy to drive and economic to run. tdi golfs 4 over here in holland now nearly all sitting around the 300.000km mark and going strong also still verry mutch in demand in the second hand market as they are known to be good cars. Good Luck Cheers, Andrew

As for a Kia, fucking hell I'd rather buy a pushbike. Korean crap. What the fuck do you know about kia? Their warranty is simply unbeatable, and you get next to no problems at all. I work in an aftersales kia dealership, so I've got a lot of experience with them, the Rio's are brilliant, as you said, boring dated interior, but thats to be expected of a cheaper car. Only thing to look out for on the Rio's is rear shocker bushes split on them. Cheap for new ones though, and only 10 mins per side to change, if that... Like you said they are up and coming now, and I'd rather own one rather than some overrated, overpriced german shit. On 25th Sep, 2009 mini13 said:

I'm 100% sure that the Korean's make better cars than the French or Italians. Just imagine you could buy a 5 year old car with 2 years warrenty still on it.

The quality might be OK, but every time I'd go for a drive I'd be sucidal...I've never driven such crap as Hyuidnay or whatever and KIA.

On pure reliability, I would guess that the Korean's might have it, but 'better' is far to subjective. Case in point your Fiat 500, I bet there is a Korean car out there that is 'better' then that for the same price.

I had a Kia C'eed as a hire car. It was way better than the usual Euro box shit we get. It handled properly, was comfy, felt as well built if not better than Vauxhalls or Citroens/Peugeots we usually get. The engine was amazing compared so some TDis I've driven. Couldn't fault it.

I guess it's the attitude that persists from the first load of shit they produced (Kia Pride, remember that hunk of crap, or the Hyundai Pony- total bollocks) that's holding them back. You just reminded me. My dad used to have a bright orange A reg hyundai pony pickup. It was crap, ugly but pretty reliable. If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of. |
