Crap!

Glad the head off my engine is sat on the shelf, just hope I greased up the bores well enough. I did use a whole packet of wheel bearing grease.

As for V's comments on antifreeze, I always use a 50/50 mix but it always still turns out crappy orange. I think I need to change the type of coolant I use to one of these newer ones for ally heads.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

I managed to get some of that pink colour VW anti-freeze a few years back and that was bloody brilliant!

I had a bit more of an inpection this evening, and its popped two of the core plugs out. Ive had a closer look at the crack...Im now unsure whether it is cracked or not!? *Confused*

I knew it was along the casting mark and presumed it had cracked along it, thinking it was a weak point in the casting, but now im not sure?! Im still going to whip it off and double check, as there is a big pool of water and oil on the transfer housing. There was definitely water coming out around that end of the head, but im now not sure if it was running out of the park plug hole and down the side?

If its ok, I'll be going dry deck at the same time...finger crossed!

Regarding the pink VAG anti freeze, it really isn't expensive at all even from the main dealers. About £8 for 2L- a lot cheaper than Halfords.

My welder said it was pretty bad. He ground shite loads out to enable him to get a deep weld. 3 core plugs also popped out so im hoping they limited the damage elsewhere on the head.

There was originally a core plug where my temp sensor was located. If I left it as it was, it probably would of just popped that out instead of cracking. *oh well*
