Mini13 said ........ even with my radtec ally rad I find my temps creeping up. on the motorway the temp will edge up to over 90 deg C if I sit at about 80mph unless I turn the kenlowe on. (82deg stat) Even with an ally rad ? That's really unusual mate. If anything, mine overcools on the van with the ally rad and I had to replace my 82 deg C stat with an 88 deg one. Could your stat not be fully opening ? Where are you taking your temp pickup ? Is the gauge reading right ? I also changed the size of the water pump pulley to one off a 1000cc mini (my original engine !) - the pulley is a small one, about 3/4 inch dia smaller than the MT one. This combo works really well. Jobs a goodun now. Richard. Edited by turbominivanman on 8th Feb, 2010. Minivanless, but reluctantly happy living with the decision. There'll be another one day.

Hay Jani if it works for you that's great and what you have to go by. I have heard from many other people that the chinese rads and intercoolers aren't as efficient as they could be. So i guess it's just down to what you like. The Chinese can certainly fabricate them cheaply. But at the end of the day, if the core isnt up to spec, the overall package will be crap. Even if it looks nice. Most of the IC's you see on ebay are pure crap. But they work well for 90% of people, simply because they are massive. SO they still make great value. When temperature control on a Mini is so difficult, its imperitive that all the best bits are used. And that is a damn fine looking radiator. Wonder would anodising it black help ? Ive really considered getting my IC core done...just cant be arsed taking it apart now lol Edited by stevieturbo on 8th Feb, 2010. 9.85 @ 145mph

thats the reading from the megasquirt, so it should be right it also ties up (ish) with the mechanical smith gauge also fitted.
