These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

I dont think you'll be able to do it with a MJ unfortunately.

you could do a two step style launch control, with the mj, but its not true launch control it would be basically 2 different maps one with a low rev limit and one with a high rev limit the lower limit used to hold the revs down coming off the line on a button

Yes i moved to the darkside *happy*

you can do it in a very simple state with a MJ.. exactly as brett says... although you will need a hard cut limiter.

i have tried it with a switch on the dash and it works quite well if you switch it at the right time... (sounds evil too)

I tried this last year was a bit hit and miss for me but the hard cut sounds nice! I also tried it with the soft cut as this allows you to run a bodge anti lag I think it ran about 6psi :)

i rely on a 2-step to launch, cant make boost without it :) i would be stunned if you cant do it with the MJ as i do it with my megasquirt.

you could use a separate rev limiter ive seen some that lower the rev limit on push of a button
you can change maps on the fly in mj so if you already have it, its as simple as setting it up- gone to look for info

All you need to do it with the mj is the switchable maps options and a hard cut limiter, you can buy the limiter from the mjlj website but I made my own on a bit of veroboard.

I'm guessing you could put a switch on the clutch to automate it but then when you change gear the limit will be enforced.
MS allows you to configure "arming" rpm levels so that over 5000rpm for example it limits at the flatshift level rather than launch

That's what I use, allows for a flat shift and makes nice bangs! Position of the clutch switch is very important, so make it ajustable :) I use the same rpm for both, the flat shift rpm doesn't seem to matter much..

I've already fitted the clutch switch, took ages to get it in the right position and it allows for slight adjustment. I've gone for a low level input, planning on having a switch on the dash so we can turn it off aswell.

What are you guys using as a switch? I bought a brake light pedal switch that I was planning on fitting to the clutch pedal. *oh well*

Throwing electronics on this ain't going to fix it, no matter how expensive or blingy they are.

Sorry, but as much as I like T2's - they aren't going to be making sufficient power at 1 bar to make this as undrivable as is being discussed.

A few questions:

What wheels are you running?

What tyreas are you running?

Are both shocks set to the same setting and in good working order?

Are your corner weights something like right (within 5% side to side)?

Are your suspension bushings in good order?

Is your alignment something like correct?

Matty, i'm using something like one of these, just grounds the cable to the ECU which turns on the launch control/flatshift http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=6453

Try a lower ratio (faster) Diff. Clear you have the HP / Torque to do it. It will also lower the stress on the Third Motion Shaft, it's support bearing, the Diff and Drive Shafts....

I dont know those Renault F1 cars used to have a speedy start back in the days of launch control, with the JK 5% spin rule
