straps like that should be just below the centre line of the wheels, the straps will slip over the top of the tires when fitted like that with somthing as small as a bump or pothole let alone a shunt, if fitted under the centre line the the straps cant slip or come off in a shunt

I trust wolfie. I would hope so anyway, he's the profesional!

It makes sense though, if they are down below the widest point of the wheel and tightened fully then there is noway they can then raise past the widest point of the wheel. and they cant go down because of the hubs.

If they are above the widest point of the wheels then its not that hard for them to work thier way up slightly, getting looser as the wheel becomes "smaller" and then coming off.

I was up at castle combe in merlin motorsport yesterday doing some shopping and there was a track day going on. There was a skyline there, and after close inspection I don't think you would get the engine in the mini, too much hanging off the sides.

There was also an evo there. I reckon you'd get an evo engine in there much more easily after close inspection. So thats the new idea now, Evo engined mini. That and 4 wheel drive would be awesome, Plus some serious tuning potential. you may not even need to space frame it, but I think some serious floor mods would be required.

A good friend of mine here in Australia (Dave Homer--formerly from England turbo ford/cosworth Siera race team mechanic) has built an Evo-7 running-geared suzi swift,,, so i can`t see a problem fitting it all into a brick,,, well apart from all the time & money & effort *smiley*

an R1 in a go-kart is still faster tho *wink*

Id say above like hes got, but a hell of a lot tighter and parallel to the trailer.

Or even better over the wheel and clamped down.

Then again if the straps are below the widest point of the wheel whats to stop them slipping down and the car flying off, then again it would probably take a fair whack in which case you'd be fucked anyway...

I would imagine if they were further down they couldn't slip down past the hub.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.
