Bit of progress in some respects:

I took the mpi pump out today, and modded the assembly to take a spare impreza turbo pump i had lieing about which was pumping twice as much fuel as the mpi pump.

Took it out for a test and same again flat out, but was down on 3 cylinders when i got back, so just took the head off and found a nice bent exhaust valve.

So i think the problem might be sticky guides, which is causing the misfire at top end? This sound likely?

feasable , if the missfire is showing a lean mixture ,which it could do .

Medusa + injection = too much torque for the dyno ..https://youtu.be/qg5o0_tJxYM

A rich missfire will show as a lean condition, yes

Is it A-Series only? I think it should be...
So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...
