maybe so, but this way you could even sleeve the rod. Since it's a push action on the rod, even if the weld breaks the system would still work, unlike when you cut and shut the pedal itself. Another way may be to heat the pedal and bend it, rather than cut and reweld.
Personally I'd rather leave the whole lot alone too, but if one must, one must...

how about shortening the master cylinder's rod? That would lower the pedal too and should be easier to weld up than the pedal itself.

i dont think its a case of you cant weld the brake peddle more like would you drive a car with a cut/shut brake peddle?.. i would prefer not too

Unless you are a coded welder (which you may well be) and fully understand the science of welding and weld contamination, I would not trust welds on a brake pedal. Its not really the weld that is the problem, it is the area imediately around it that has been annealed, and any undercut of the weld creates a stress point. I would class it as a critical part, and while I trust my welding on the car itself, I am not relying on just one weld.

Just my thoughts, and while I am not the best welder in the world, or coded, I do work on occasions with coded welders that repair the cracked undercut welds that some Sombrero wearing mexican had done :)

Is it A-Series only? I think it should be...
So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

All sound stuff,,, but just to make my position clear,I would never rely on a butt weld that I had made myself, in a critical situation, but my brake pedal has a "splint " either side of the join and I would be happy to suspend the car on that sort of weld - even if I was underneath it. I,m not a coded welder either, but I have an appreciation of things like undercuts and embrittlement etc etc etc.
