personally I'd build a 'standard spec' turbo lump, using a T3, standard manifold, carb etc...

You could easily have a reliable 100bhp low boost turbo setup for £1000 if your willing to build it yourself. i would agree. a 100bhp turbo lump will be alot cheaper to build than a 100bhp NA lump. and the turbo wont need to be revved as high to get the power as the NA lump so it would most likely be a more reliable engine. the only thing i would miss on the NA is the lumpyness with a big cam, what a sound!.
