personally I'd build a 'standard spec' turbo lump, using a T3, standard manifold, carb etc...

Spend your money on some decent pistons, rebore, new bearings etc... no need for a flash head, crank, cam. You could easily have a reliable 100bhp low boost turbo setup for £1000 if your willing to build it yourself.

thanks for the help guys, i think i will build it myself just need a donor engine now.

on the carbs debate i've used both the weber and the su, the webers power and sound is great but no low down power, and the su runs sweet but doesn't give the top end power or the sound but does give better mpg. i don't know which i'll use i have both so i have the choice depending on what i want. :)

i would agree. a 100bhp turbo lump will be alot cheaper to build than a 100bhp NA lump. and the turbo wont need to be revved as high to get the power as the NA lump so it would most likely be a more reliable engine. *wink* the only thing i would miss on the NA is the lumpyness with a big cam, what a sound!.
