its not the cooling of No4 cylinder that is the problem, its cooling the chamber, and where the A series 5 port head problem lies, hence the theory of using the heater take off to aid flow around No4 chamber.

Cylinders/ chambers 2 and 3 will naturally run hotter as they are surrounded by cylinders on either side, and from things i have seen, damage mostly happens along the the pin as a result.

Is it A-Series only? I think it should be...
So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

I suppose it isn't beyond the realms of possibility that the fuelling, ignition and cooling are just ok for 1, 2 and 3, but the extra temperature around no 4 just takes that cylinder over the edge.

I'm not going to rely on the heater take off to be the sole solution to the problem. Intercooler is on the list, and I'll be reviewing my map when I can get the laptop it is on to fire into life.

This is the map I started with, which was taken from on here somewhere, and I have modified the off boost areas with the use of some det cans. It is an amalgamation of a NASP curve off boost and the standard turbo curve when on boost. What are peoples thoughts on this map? Is it a safe map to go back to?

To me that looks like a megasafe map.

Yes that looks very safe to me. Do you have a wideband fitted ?

I have a wideband ready to go on when the engine goes back in.

Lean mixture is my bet looking at that map. I've got a 24deg map on the van and it doesn't seem to pink.
