Nic - it had been very badly painted. The exterior, although it loked good from 10ft away, had been badly prepped and painted with very thick coats. The slightest nock would bring off a chip the size of a penny. Inside, boot and engine bay had been done by brush, mainly in pink (red) hammerite, so thinly it flaked off.
My concern was that on the outside no amount of flatting off would ever make the paint stick, whereas inside it was going to be nigh on impossilbe to get to some of the shit areas to rub down (although a pressure washer would've got most of the paint off inside!)
