Things like shuttering and grills aren't exposed to the same road salts as cars. Once the powders chipped its down to bare metal, where as with a 2 pack and a primer more often than not it will chip back to primer not bare metal. On 29th Jun, 2010 fab said: wrong! shuttering grills been protected by god from salt? nope, but they dont get chipped by stones flying at them either!!! I personally dont like powdercoating wheels for the reasons someone else says, once the powder gets chipped it will allow water in to corrode the material underneath. Im lucky enough to be part of a company that grit blasts, paints, powdercoats, and does a lot of very specialist coatings (<thats the bit i do) and we powdercoat a hell of a lot of wheels, as well as bike frames and a lot of industrial stuff, however we also paint a lot of the above in high grade two pack, but generally for a different type of customer...... Imho, powdercoat is fine for most, but if you want it to last well and offer top quality protection, then powdercoat just doesnt cut it....... Pete And on the 7th day........... Then you have an edge over yamaha, suzuki, kawasaki, honda, raid, bbs ,can't be arsed to think how many company's are still using powdercoating, including cross bikes.

its all purely for cost imho, it is simply so much cheaper to powdercoat than it is to paint. Like i say, from a quality point of view, there is just no comparision.
