I've heard the FIA are looking at a world engine where basically the same unit is used but using different boost levels with say 3 bar for F1, 1 bar for touring car and F3 and normally aspirated for lower formula.

I went to top gear earlier this year when they came over here and they had one of the 80s f1 cars with the fooking massive turbos on it.
I asked the bloke when the lag would stop, the best he could get was quite high, it makes 800 hp. So i just walked away.

In boost we trust

It is only a static demonstration. but it is still impressive to look at. I think back then they were only good for 1 race, so probably around the 200 mile mark.

I think they should fit sails to the cars.

9.85 @ 145mph
202mph standing mile
speed didn't kill me, but taxation probably will

Tim, with those boost levels & 80's technology, they were good for about half a race as I remember it!

Hmm, i dont see how they can be fair. I think all the power should come from the engine only.

Not quite right. The energy from the KERS, HAS come from the engine, it has just been recovered from the decelleration of the car under braking, and then stored. So with a rule that might say, all the power must come from the engine, the KERS is perfectly acceptable. Basicaly the work done (power) by the engine accelerates the vehicle, and the KERS then absorbs and stores that work under braking. That work, would normaly be disipated as heat through the friction brakes. Whether the KERS is electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, or hydromechanical, the power has already been produced by the engine.

Remember that the lowest form of energy is heat. Everything eventualy ends up as heat, including the work done to accellerate a car, whether it is left to coast down or braked, the work done still ends up as heat.

Is it A-Series only? I think it should be...
So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...
