On an unrelated note, after driving all the way there and back in the mini, whipped plugs 3 and 4 out after I got home and they weren't even tan, almost completely clean!

Whoopsie... wondered why it was getting so sodding hot.

Glad everyone else seemed to have a good day. Nice to see so many TM people again and to meet Rod for the first time.

Despite farting around with boost and mixture I couldn,t get within half a second of my best time at Avon, so a piss poor result for me especially as it felt right and I seemed to get it off the line a bit better.
That Metro van really surprises the crowd - well done again John, I saw your 14.6.

I saw the DON run the 11.1 and it was the most unspectacular run i have ever seen, probably why it was so fast, excellent work.

I had no end of issues with the TT. To summarise, shit tyres, choke stuck on, slipping clutch. Oh well.

Each hill climb event the twins attend in the TT2, they carefully tune the geometry of the suspension so that it it is biased to the side that has the most left or right corners, much like the Indi cars on the ovals. They just forgot to straigten it all up for a straight track, hence the car pulling towards the armco *hehe!* *wink*

Force Racing ICT Dept Manager Miglia Turbo Am frum Yokshyer tha noes!

I had a bab weekend in terms of times! Never managed to beat my 15 sec times! Couldnt launch the car right and then the car started making a high speed rattle at about 75 to 80 mph causing me to shut off around 40 yards from the finish *angry*

This basically plagued me all day so 15.2 was all i could manage! I know there shed loads more to come out of the car and i need to practice my launches more. Congrats to Tom on the 11 run! Very good indeed.

Just need to figure out what was going on with the rattle, it didnt go away when i shut off. So its not gunna be det, i did find that my cv boot on the drivers side was ripped to shreds. The noise totally goes away at low speeds and you can give to car the beans and its fine. It only happens at high speed.

Very odd indeed!

Even though the strip is flat and even, it only takes a bit more grip to throw the car off to one side, I've had the DON try and turn and drag itself into the wall at launch before, its not nice!

Mike, have you considered this rattle to be an aerodynamic thing where at the same speed on every run, all your carbon and fibre glass panels start to oscillate?

Or that front bumper. Get some rubber caps on those bars from your subby. I reckon it's that rattling. Or your moustache (get some behind that too.)

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

Could it have been the shreds of the CV boot flapping ?.

Just seen this, cheers Dave. I'm slightly miffed that I couldn't better my Avon times but I had half a tank of fuel, worse tyres and was reluctant to strip as much stuff off the van as we did at Avon as I would have had to put it back together before going home.

Well , what can i say, I reviewed Toms tickets from the showdown last wednesday and as Tom said we worked out there was an 11.5 in there somewhere,

now its been a long time since iv'e been genuinly gobsmacked at my cars results, the early days back in the late ninties was good for a few surprises, but iv'e had to wait nearly 10 years for another fix and its been well worth the wait,

We would has settled for the 11.5 and a new record, but the 11.1 is [and in my very surprised words on the vid i have , yes i have it on tape,] "fucking amazing",
i'll hopefully get the vid on the tube as soon as i find someone to do it,

But as Ben says it look surprisingly steady with absolutlty no visable drama from the outside,
i'm sure it was a bit more hectic in the drivers seat, lol

the figures off the ticket are quite amazing too, 1.67 to 60 ft, 102.9mph @ 1/8th.

This year Tom and myself had decided to have a go at my 10 year old record of 11.72 secs as the car clearly had too much brutal power for any road tyre,
So we have a new record and a new name to go with it,
and i would like to think that these records will stay associated with Carl Austin and force Racing,

Well done Tom, fantastic and barely beleivable result,
lucky we have the vid , the ticket and 1000 witnesses, lol.

Goof effort boys, most impressed, never saw your runs tho as I spent most of the day in the ques, The less dramatic runs are always the quick ones. the track was giving up some good drip once it warmed up by the afternoon, I was finding enough grip to launch off the line with the nitrous, best for myself was 11.02 [1.63 60ft], I was hopping for a 10.99, but was denied. Good to catch up with everyone that came to say hi.

So not bad for a road car on e marked tyres, altho they ae pretty dead now after my rather smokey burnouts.

I still cannot belive your 11.1 tho that is awesome for a Front wheel drive let alone one only displacing 1293 cc?

It was not torque stear it was shit tyres. I changed them for the last run and control was restored. It did not help that I was trying to adjust the boost so was only stearing with 1 hand.
