you planning on going on the 24th chap? tempted to have a quick look at mine and see if it's a cheap fix to give it a run before the rebuild.

I'm getting fucking bored of these threads now, why do people keep having a dig at the 16v turbo minis, evolution dictates that things move on, I can remember helping jon flan on his way to running a 13.074, at the time in 2004 an unheard of time, still bloody good today, but nevertheless there are a few folk in the 12's and a few in the 11's, so should they not be included in the 200+ elite club? What next, anyone running turbo designed less than 30 years ago will not be let in?? Boring boring boring.

Can some then please explain this to me as I'm lost as to where these digs at the 16V boys are?? Please advice?

In my eyes it's a simple question about 5 port minis ,which present unique difficulties in getting a lot of power. i'd take no offense if anyone started a thread titled , "how many 16 v minis over 200 bhp ". What's the problem??
It was a simple question about A series minis, If people wanted to know what power a Honda, Vauxhall engine or kad head or bmw head minis are making, then that question may have been asked!
But wanted to compare like for like, o well can't get it write all the time I guess.

Granted some of us prefer 5 ports (not as a dig to the fantastic results achieved with 16v, 7 port etc) but to be fair Tom, that hasnt been mentioned in this thread. And yes, Im bored of those ones too.

Paul

I seriously doubt it!

i think its fair to say that a lot more of us would be running 16v anyways if it wasn't for the price, or work required with fitting a k head. i know i would if i could. :)

So after reading the posts, Matt you should had named it.

How Many 5 Porters do we have over 200hp succesfully.

Does exactly what it says on the tin *wink*

Im still impressed by you lot getting that sort of power with so few cc, be it 5/7port 16V etc.

Id like to say a big well done to Matt for being the first to that magic 200 many years ago and to still be the leading banana figure now - proper dedication.

Paul

I seriously doubt it!

I think it is the title 'FULL' that winds people up. Change it to 5 port and job done.

Yes and no. The figures seen are similar to those seen with the same engines (an I mean the exact same engines) on other rolling roads and dynos. So that validates all the other figures, IMO. On paper 200 bananas is not that difficult to acheive these days with the knowledge on this forum.

Fab - there were enough clever people there on Sat to witness the numbers being made that, yes, they are very much real numbers and a credit to all of them.

If Carling made Mini engines

john , do you have a dyno sheet of the billet head i could overlay on the rr sheet ?

Medusa + injection = too much torque for the dyno ..https://youtu.be/qg5o0_tJxYM

So you have a 143 % volumetric efficient n/a a-serie??

In case if my terms/words would be taken for arrogance , be sure these are not! I'm genuinely open minded and respecting every of these guys.
It's a mathematic contradiction, and incompatibilty between the dyno curves/powers and scientific calcs, if I'm wrong you'll be welcome to correct/explain my negligences.
Whatever I'm not credule and don't believe in any magie. I regulary shut to not bless but tomorrow we'll find a-series with better specific ouputs than hayabusa engines.

I think fab has a valid point.

I've been reading up on inertia type dynos. They are good for repeatability and they have certainly ranked our cars, performance wise.

However, they work out the power from the acceleration at the rollers rather than measure the torque. They use the inertia of the rollers as the resistance.

This means that they have to know the inertia of the rollers plus the inertia of the engine and drivetrain including the wheels. Of course, this is different for each car so they make an estimate.

This is getting too scientific.... so i will conclude with one word.....banananas.

But all the 200 club members has big fooking turbos on, certinally no-one would believe a 1293 NA A-series would make anywhere near this value.

Fastest 998 mini in the world? 13.05 1/4 mile 106mph

I don't understand. SC made 130bhp from a 1380. Is that 143% VE?
