Suck through the carb is operating in 100% normal mode, so any carburettor that is suitably sized for the airflow required will do.

I think I said that already though.

Blow through you can get away with a carb that appears much smaller for the power it is making.

speed didn't kill me, but taxation probably will

I think the HIF 44 is the same as a HS6. I could be wrong.

you are wrong

HIF stands for Horizontal Internal Float. Basically the float chamber is in the bottom of the Carb

On a HS6 the float bowl is the bit stuck out on the side, like a big testical.
