i personally wouldn't go f/g or carbon if i had a decent steel roof, unless i had a sunroof to get rid of or something i would keep it. EDIT: just read your post, i would go for a carbon personally.

After replacing my roof I would never run a fibreglass/carbon roof without a good cage tied into the pillars.
The roof is the only panel keeping the top end in shape.

If you have access to a spot welder, then you could easily remove the steel roof and replace it with another steel one in a weekend.

I also wouldn't recommend just welding one over the top either, as it won't fit correctly as you'd have to grind the lip off. You'd spend more time trying the make the edges look neat and getting a good seal than it would take to do the job properly.

From my recent experience ive learned to do the job properly the first time, and you'll save your self lots of time in the future. *wink*

hey i was told for strength!

i pulled down the headlining and it still has the Rover "genuine parts" hollogram on the bottom one, and i couldnt find a sunroof!
so not sure, it was when i bought the shell
