UPS just knocked at my door with my parcel of traction control and pressure sensors from Digikey.

Cost of parts - £77.60
Duty - £17.82

Had to write the cheque on the doorstep before he would hand over parcel.

No idea how they work the duty out.

I didn't have to pay import tax, it arrived at my door via parcel force, well the second one did, the first one had the wrong address on it. Autosport are very good.

Turbo parts collector at the moment, almost ready.

I rang HMG and they said the duty was worked out on

- The cost of the goods+ the cost of the postage + the cost of the postal insurance + a percentage depending on the catagory of the parts (Mine was clasified as car parts and in 07 that 3.5% dont know if its gone up)

Once you have added that up they slapped the VAT ontop...

Nice.

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

Would you like me to go collect and *ahem* deliver them to you? *hehe!*

I'm just going to buy it and hope customs don't pull it up. Maybe if Autosport write 'Tampax' in big letters on it then they might overlook it *happy*

Cor, that would annoy me!

I'm waiting on a baby carrier from the US, and the manufacturer won't mark them as gifts so I have to wait and see. I'm hoping the bulk of parcels going through at the moment for Christmas distracts them from mine. Especially as I've just been told off by Mr B for buying it despite her not marking it as a gift/low value!

Delivered by Parcelforce and the contents were show as Commercial Sample.

If this helps anyone.

Did you ask them to change the value/name of goods or did they do it themselves? I'm waiting until just after Xmas once I have monies ands been paid, etc and then I'll have it delivered to work just before VAT rises.

It's a V4 MAP with the tuning cable and mounting brackets. Never used. According to the autosports labs site is $169 (£109) plus what ever you get screwed for getting it to you. I'll do mine for £120 posted.
