I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter how small or 'paper thin' this debris is, it means that something in the engine is eating away at something else.

Get it apart and inspect it.

I bet my first wank came quicker than your first mini turbo

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem.

I couldn't think where there was a circular shim in the box as I couldn't get ball joint shims out of my head!!

But yes - diff shim.

And if that is in the box, it can only really be there from builder error, surely?

Could someone have used shim steel behind the thrust to reduce crank endfloat?
Seen it done before

I seriously doubt it!

for the sake of a gasket set and some time, I'd pull it apart and check. I'm sure there is a lot of money it it to run that risk

My money would be on a Shim and I would think its the one thats sets preload on the main Gearbox pinion bering, I have seen these some of these work there way out and get shaved by the pinion,

My 2cents wort is pull the motor have a look, why run the risk of mullering the thing !

I find the easiest way is to super glue the bolt to the end of one of my fingers.
