I tried 1.5 rockers with my first serious turbo build -Mg Midget cam etc and, although it seemed to come on boost a bit harder, it lost all mid range and the engine was a lot more "tappety", which I hate.

I now have Cooper S forged rockers with offset bushes - about as close as I can get to 1.3.

I bet someone on the mini forum will want to swap your 1.5.1 rockers for 1.3.1 rockers, if not the second hand value is quite high, I advertised my old ones for about £90 and sold them within 5 min, lost count of how many people messaged me.

so obviously with 20psi of boost you don't advice to put 1,5 rocker ?

my setup is
fully flowed head with 27cc chambers, 36/31 valves, Omega 18cc forged pistons, arrow rods, phase 2 Cam and i will put between 20 and 25 psi in the engine but i dont have choose yet the rockers so i'm very interested in the question =)

I've spoke to a couple of people now who run phase 2cam & 1.5 rockers one of them has the engine out of tims black metro turbo a few of you will know tim & the engine so iam goin to give it a go & if its no good iam goin to swap for the 1.3 I suppose its all on preference really all advice taking on board so defo goin phase to as rockers are easier to change than the cam

there's defo no need to use 1.5's with a phase two , there's no point to lift the valve that much, it'll bugger the mid range for nothing upper.
With the mg na cam it's more dependant of your like, genuine lift is a bit short but do for a nice power curve, with a nice head it could help to sort up the numbers, though I binned my 1.5, with great results for a road set up, would use them only for tracks

I'm pretty sure that Nic Riz uses 1.5:1 rockers with a cam that is very similar to the Ph2. He's not complaining about driveability.

It all depends on whether the head and cam work together well at the extra lift. No point in using 1.5 rockers if the head cant flow enough.

I think this is where the problem lies & why a lot of people have had poor results when fitting them. The head needs to be able to flow at the higher lift otherwise you're wasting your time.

Nic's engine is far from the average, with special vmax head, and to had one, it has monstruous ports, vmax cam is different to phase 2 too , much lesser lift on intake lobes.
