If you are not too precious about the motor, and it doesn't have trick bits inside it, then go for it, you might get away with it. Just keep a good eye on the oil pressure gauge, this will soon tell you if you have a problem.

Its a standard 998, it's a bit smoky and probably due a rebuild. It's planned to be turbo'd in order to get me up and running while I or benross build a 1293 turbo. I'd rather not pull it down if I can help it! I'd rather swap it for another engine/box if it dies.it's Just simpler.

I'll let you know if it survives!!

As joe says, if its a 998 then who cares! I just assumed it was some nicely built 1293 or something.

No one seems to care about the poor little 998's anymore!!!

If it was the 1293 I would have pulled it out, and stripped - no question.
