One thing i can think about would be tyre wall deflection, Everyone knows someone with big ol wheels and elastic band tyres, going to be very little deflection on turn in with those. Tyres with straight or a slight stretch wont be able to deflect near as much as the same tyre on a little skinny wheel... at least how i see it, of course there will be other factors but there always is! My undertanding is that, tyres stretched on to the rim can give more grip in corners due to keeping the tread in better contact with the tarmac (suspension permitting) but can make the car twitchy in (or near) a straight line,
